Make your voice heard: Vote for the SAMA 20 Kia Record of the Year!

Which South African song formed the most memorable soundtrack to our lives last year? The bets are on and the voting lines are open for the Kia Record of the Year, which will be announced at the 20th Annual South African Music Awards on 28 April 2014.

Twenty hit tracks are vying for the honour of being crowned Kia Record of the Year – one of the most eagerly awaited categories at the SAMAs - and the only one determined by a public SMS vote.

With a diverse array of genres and artists represented among the nominees, the field is wide open and the statuette is anyone’s for the taking.

The announcement of the Kia Record of the Year nominees now moves both Mi Casa and Mafikizolo up to an incredible six SAMA 20 nominations apiece – and bumps DJ Kent up to five nods for this year’s awards.

Adding to the excitement is the fact that three acts – DJ Kent, Mafikizolo and Jimmy Nevis – have double the chance of winning the coveted Kia Record of the Year title, as they each have two tracks nominated. Or will that merely serve to split their votes? Only time will tell!

For the third consecutive year, Kia Motors South Africa is partnering with the Recording Industry of South Africa as the official vehicle partner of the SAMAs. And this year, Kia is proud to also come on board as the headline sponsor of the popular Record of the Year category.

Music lovers across the country can now cast their votes for their favourite South African track of the past 12 months. The competition for this category is tight and the result will be a resounding victory for music democracy.

So get texting – the vote is in your hands! Vote for the Kia Record of the Year by SMSing the alphabet letter of your favourite track and the name of the province you live in to 33123 (e.g. A – Gauteng).

SMS’s are charged at R1.50, free SMS’s do not apply, and there is a limit of 10 votes per mobile phone. Voting lines close on 24 April – so don’t hesitate in casting your vote for your most-loved local song of the year.

The winner of the Kia Record of the Year will be announced during the SAMA 20 awards ceremony at Sun City on Monday, 28 April 2014. The event will be broadcast live on SABC1 from20h30.

Stand a chance to win a VIP experience at SAMA 20 with Kia and meet the Kia Record of the Year winner. Visit Kia’s Facebook page [here] or SAMA Website for more information and terms and conditions.
