#DISTRICT Global Street Fest: Tickets Now on Sale

Welcome to #DISTRICT, a Global Street Festival taking place in Newtown, October 13A unique and eclectic musical programme will fuse world beats, pop, rock, jazz, soul and electronica, whilst showcasing both international, locally established and upcoming artists to audiences keen to explore musical adventures with like-minded people.


With the Main Stage, three Festival Clubs, The Food and Wine Theatre, The Global Cinema, Theatre Productions and Arts Exhibitions, #DISTRICT is a host of different festival s converged on the same urban landscape for one day only.

The main stage is a feast of cultural sounds – from world beats to South Africa’s home grown best. The global selection of artists on the main stage includes Flavia Coelho – the Brazilian sensation that wowed fans at this year’s MTN Bushfire Festival, Kila, Ireland's greatest world music band, mixes traditional Irish sounds with world influences, and the mesmerizing, spectacular, fabulous show  that is the Dhoad Gypsies of Rajasthan. Made up of poets troubadours, musicians, dancers and even a fakir (fire eater) from India, The Dhoad Gypsies are dedicated to gathering the leading figures of the Rajasthan musician castes.

Top South African favourites such as the much-loved Zahara, Sibusile Xaba and Thabang Tabane will also grace the stage amongst others. From 10pm the stage becomes the home to some of South Africa’s best electronic music with the party lasting until 2am.

But don’t let the music at the Main Stage keep you from also experience the diversity of experiences.  Theatre productions at the Market Theatre are included in the festival pass, as well as access to the Jazz Club, cinema screenings, and the Food & Wine Village, art exhibitions and more.

The cashless environment means buying food and drinks is easy, safe and convenient. The entire festival district is a safe and secure pedestrian environment with various zones only accessible to festival ticket holders.  

With a particular focus on security, the ONLY access to the event is through the Newton Junction Mall with safe and secure underground parking available to festival goers.
