When powerful people like Oprah say things, well, they do
manifest. After reading the Sunday Sun, November 4, 2012 copy, I was somehow
bothered by the latest news about Toni Braxton, anyway, I refrain from writing
about this up to date.
The headline, “Toni Braxton takes the HOT CHILLI this week” –
Toni does not watch Oprah, in the article she recalls her 1998 interview on
Oprah in which they talked about Toni’s bankruptcy, which Toni said changed the
course of her music career…
She was quoted as having said, “Oprah was so freakin’ mean
to me. I was in shock. I couldn’t believe it because I loved her so much. I
admired her and looked up to her and she pretty much reprimanded me.”
In the interview, Oprah said: “I Oprah Winfrey and I don’t
have Gucci flatware. I’m Oprah Winfrey and I don’t have Gucci flatware.” Toni
said: You ain’t got Gucci flatware because you didn’t want to buy it, not
because you couldn’t afford it!”
As quoted in the Sunday Sun, “Immediately she made me feel
this small. That moment completely changed my career. It made people look down
on me.”
Words destroy careers, especially from powerful people,
remember, these people have millions of fans that trust whatever they say. So
is it fair for Toni to blame Oprah, if people looked down on her? Was it fair
for Oprah to address her in such a manner? Bearing in mind that the interview was
about her bankruptcy, which means it is relevant to talk about what she or does
not have…
