Last year many reports went on about Lesego’s fall from grace to heavy alcohol drinking, going through a rough patch, moving back to his home in the Kanana township in Orkney, North West and the talented star performed at some events last year and earlier this year, which promised many that the talent is still alive and surely a comeback is a possibility.
The papers quoted neighbors as saying the Viva Africa hit-maker has apparently found a new best friend – sorghum beer, at a local Shebben called Mambush.
This was sad as reports went on that Reetseng was then called “Graveyard Star” because he was often asked to sing at funerals.
It was also reported that Reetseng had all the money but he chose to live larger with friends and went heavy on beer and when times are tough he will resort to cartons of sorghum beer.
Reetseng denied all the reports that he’s broke and was reported as saying he’ll soon be back in Jozi.
He was quoted by a local newspaper as saying, “I’m recording an album. I’ll not say at the moment who I’m working with as this is a cutthroat industry and you can be easily sabotaged,” he said.
Apparently Reetseng spent a period more than five months in rehab to recover his life and surely that’s where he realized that he has a talent and fans that needs him.
Another local paper quoted him as saying, “I have asked God to unburden me because I cannot do it by myself. I want to apologize to my fans and the people I have hurt. It will never happen again. I’m taking it one day at a time.”
Continued the paper, “Alcohol was a big distraction for me and it slowed down my career. It took away my self- respect. But I’ve learnt from my mistakes and I’m on the road to recovery.”
Like any vulnerable artist Reetseng suffered a lot in his life and being the believer he is on his talent, he is now back with a fresh a reviving single titled ‘Mona Lisa’.
He took with excitement yesterday to his Facebook, “My first single "Mona Lisa" was released today and I’m so happy to get the reaction that I got for this song. If you haven’t heard the song, just call your local radio station to request it and dance until you drop, but this is a love song that will strengthen your love life. ‘Mona Lisa’ it is!”
Reetseng made his name in 2006 when he released his first offering, My Music. It went over platinum and won him several awards. In 2009 he released his second album called Soulsation.
