On Friday, 17th August 2012 and Saturday, 18th August 2012, in
Johannesburg and Cape town respectively at Zulabar in Cape town. UPE, the
company that brought Goapele, Dwele, Bilal, Canibus, 88keys, Phonte and
9thWonder to South Africa, will be presenting 9thWonder and Rapsody Live and
other members of the Jamla Army in South Africa in recognition of the Women’s
Month celebration. Along with Rapsody and the Jamla squad, the show will also
be composed of South African Female MC’s and Female DJ in August. Tickets will
range from R150 to R250. The show begins at 8:30p.m. And doors open at 7:30

Rapsody is the new force in hip hop, and she's blazing the trail for a new
generation of emcees, showcasing effortless lyrical mastery in an age of
celebrating the culture of a hip hop renaissance. She is the protégé of Grammy
Award-winning producer 9th Wonder, the first lady of North Carolina super crew
Kooley High, and one of the first artists signed to Jamla Records/It's A
Wonderful World Music Group.
She is an emcee who represents hip hop culture beyond the lines of gender, proving that anything the boys can do, she can do, too, and better. Rapsody made her solo debut on December 7, 2010 with "Return of the B-Girl," a 20-track project boasting production by 9th Wonder and DJ Premier among others, as well as features from Big Daddy Kane, Mac Miller, Skyzoo, Rah Digga, Phil Ade, and more. Rapsody has shared the stage with hip hop legends and rising stars alike, including Raekwon of the Wu-Tang Clan, Big Daddy Kane, J. Cole, Wale, Colin Munroe, Tanya Morgan, Suede of Camp Lo, Blu and Exile, and The Clipse, but it's her ability to captivate diverse audiences with her explosively dynamic live performance that sets her apart and has earned her much-deserved accolades from major media sources including Vibe, XXL, HipHopDX, and more.
She has captivated
audiences at sold-out performances at dozens of venues on The Incredibly Dope
Tour with Mac Miller and the Mic Fest Tour with 9th Wonder and her Jamla
Records label mates. In her sophomore project "Thank H.E.R. Now," she
weaves more intimate stories of her personal experiences and shares the studio
and sound booth with heavy hitters Jean Grae, MURS, Raekwon, Estelle, Big
K.R.I.T., Marsha Ambrosius, and more.

Born Patrick Denard Douthit in Winston-Salem, NC, 9th Wonder is a Grammy Award Winning Producer, DJ, College Lecturer, and Social Activist. Since his introduction to hip-hop in 1982 9th has been immersed in the music and culture of the art form while gaining experience in music theory throughout middle and high school. 9th attended North Carolina Central University, where he decided to pursue a career in music. He, along with Phonte Colerman and Thomas Jones (Rapper Big Pooh), formed the hip-hop trio Little Brother in 1998. The group released the critically acclaimed album “The Listening”, which received 4 mics in Source Magazine.
9th was then tapped to produce a track on Jay-Z’s “Black Album”, which became his first major label placement. From there, 9th Wonder produced 3 songs for the R&B Super group Destiny’s Child on the album “Destiny Fulfilled” (Girl, Is She The Reason, Game Over), won a Grammy with Mary J. Blige for her album “The Breakthrough” (Good Woman Down), Erykah Badu’s “Honey” and “20 Ft. Tall” on the album New Amerykah 1 and 2, Ludacris’ “Do The Right Thang”, a song featuring Common and Spike Lee, and most recently David Banner on the album Death Of A Pop star. 9th will also be working with DRAKE for the second time on his sophomore album release. 9th also has 3 albums with MURS, an Emcee that hails from Mid-City, CA, in which all three albums have received critical acclaim.
9TH Wonder and Phonte recently performed at a sold out concert at Bassline hosted by UPE on April 6th 2012 in South Africa.
