Port Elizabeth based artist, Winn-Yam, popularly known as Le Prezident, debuted his first single Mogbe,
off his upcoming EP last week. The track has created buzz in the
industry and has already received airplay on various radio stations.
Le Prezident’s EP (Extended Play) aptly entitled, African Politician, is now out and will be followed by a launch on 21 June 2014 at the Richmond Hill Festival in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape.
African Politician's
focal expressions are made melodic instead of using words. They incite
deep-rooted emotions that remind one of how rich our cultures are
indeed, how they have come to evolve post-colonialism, and how we should
embrace it.
The EP has already received favourable reviews from the below industry members:
“It
has been a few years since Le Prezident started sending me his music,
so it was exciting to hear his full EP. The EP overall combines some
beautiful traditional sounds with new, and shows the extent of Le
Prezident’s musical knowledge. Really good house beats with strong
vocals, and then beautiful instrumental tracks with hot bass. The EP has
something for everyone.” – Catherine Grenfell (5FM)
"I love what I've heard from Le Prezident. I must say his production skills are very hot. Big Up!" - Dino Bravo
“African Politician
took me through different dimensions... Le Prezident's musical
diversity is apparent, African sounds fused with electronic elements
producing a unique blend of music. A must listen.” - DJ Tea (Point 5)
"African Politician
is a multi-faceted album that combines popular local South African
urban sounds such as Kwaito and House with the international urban
influences of Hip-Hop and R&B, all overlaid with a gritty but
celebratory African style and theme, that marks Le Prezident as an up
and coming South African urban music artist to keep an eye and ear out
for.” – Richard Rumney (Red Bull Studio Cape Town)
