Remember the 90s
and early 2000s? Remember Kwaito? Remember street bashes? Remember
the VW Caravelle mini bus, popularly known as Caracara? Back then
township lifestyle was so vibrant, so colorful, so irreverent and so edgy that
it shifted the culture forward. It even birthed a whole radio station, YFM.
Plainly, kasie was just cool.
With his second solo single Caracara the Teargas front man has created a song that captures the essence of
the 90s Kasie cool, ironically not by revisiting the sounds of back then but
rather by infusing the 90s swag and energy into a new age groovy Hip Hop sound
that is sure to get massive radio spins, turn up any party and blast out of car
sound systems across the country and beyond.
"A lot of us SA Hip Hop artists get so caught up in what goes on in
other countries so much so that we end up showcasing foreign cultural trends in
the music, more than our own. I believe this song will effectively restore our
cultural self-pride, something that seems to have been continuously pushed
further down our list of priorities for a while now" – K.O
Caracara premiered on radio stations across the country yesterday, the song can also be exclusively streamed
via an online lifestyle website owned and run by Hip Hop artist and
entrepreneur Slikour.
Caracara will be
available for sale on iTunes, MTN, TraxxSource, MTN, Rdio, Deezer, RaRa,
BeatsMusic and many other digital shops later today.
