Bafana snatch CHAN win!

Bafana Bafana pleased home fans when they defeated Mozambique by three goals to one and record an opening day win at the 2014 African Nations Championships at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday evening.

South Africa dominated the game but conceded a deflected goal in the 11th minute after Mozambique went on a rare attack and stunned the home fans.

However, the 25 000 strong fans cheered the team and when Sibusiso Vilakazi was played through into the box, he was fouled before shooting at goal and Bernard Parker eqaulised through a penalty.

Bafana continued to dominate the game and Hlompo Kekana scored a 30 yard screamer in the second half to give the hosts the lead. Mozambique failed to impose themselves on the game and seemingly absorbed the pressure from the hosts.

Bernard Parker wasn't done with scoring and finished off the neighbours with a beautiful shot after being teed up by fellow Kaizer Chiefs team mate Siphiwe Tshabalala.

The game ended with a victory for South Africa and a strong start to the competition. South Africa will next play Mali on the 15th of Janaury.
