Mzansi’s favourite dance show, So You Think You Can Dance, is coming back in its 3rd season starting on SABC1 Mzansi Fo Sho on Saturday 17 August 2013, at 18h30. The stunning Sinazo Yolwa (The Link) has been confirmed as the host.
"Words
cannot express how excited I am to be part of the third season of So You Think
You Can Dance. Travelling across the country with the talented judges to meet
and interact with dancers has been a wonderful experience. I am embracing the
world of dance wholeheartedly, and our viewers have some amazing entertainment
in store for them," says excited Sinazo.
This year’s
show promises viewers exciting new changes with the judging panel this time around
consisting of the following popular Mzansi personalities: the tried-and-tested
Harold Van Buuren; Themba Nofemele (Muvhango) and the dazzling Lorna Maseko
(Top Billing).
35 contestants
are selected by the judging panel, to attend call back auditions in
Johannesburg where they are given the opportunity to work with choreographers,
learn different dance styles and perform these dances to stay in the
competition. 16 contestants are then chosen during this phase to take part in
the live performance shows of the competition, where they will compete as pairs
but also as individuals for the title of South Africa’s most talented dancer.
The next phase
of the show consists of performance and results shows. The top 16 contestants
are randomly paired up and select a dance style which they will perform in
front of a live audience and the judging panel. Choreographers from different
dance disciplines are at their disposal for the duration of the training week.
After the performance show viewers have an opportunity to vote for their
favourite dancer and the results are announced during the result show.
“Viewers can
expect to be dazzled by the level of talent we have in mzansi, the new pool of
judges have indeed raised the bar. The introduction of Sinazo Yolwa will bring
a new dynamic to the show and we are excited to see this new season attract
many viewers; we expect record braking numbers in terms of votes this year.
Don’t miss the Live Broadcast on Saturdays 18h30 & result show every Monday
at 19h00,” says Dichaba Phalatse,
Kee-Leen
Irvine, Executive Producer and Group Creative Director of Rapid Blue had this
to say: “Rapid Blue is delighted to be bringing So You Think You Can Dance back
for its third season on SABC1. Dance continues to be one of the fastest growing
sports in South Africa and with dance styles ranging from Latin to Hip Hop and
Sbujwa to Contemporary, So You Think You
Can Dance provides a fantastic canvas on which to present our country’s most
exciting and entertaining dancers and showcase the vibrant art and culture of
dance Mzansi has to offer. It’s still a competition though and the dancer with
the most impressive ability to adapt to different dance-styles and wow the
judges and the public will walk away with R250 000 in cash. A refresh on the
