IT is that time of the year once again, where all of us or
rather most of us are heading to the great Vodacom Durban July; an annual
racing event that takes place at the Greyville Racecourse in Durban, South
Africa.
The Vodacom Durban July and Gold Circle officially reported
that in consultation with the Office of the Premier, it has been agreed that
the 2013 Vodacom Durban July will take place as planned on Saturday 6th July
2013. Protocols for activities on the day have been approved.
Premier, Dr Zweli Mkize, said “It will be a fitting gesture
as our beloved Madiba is in the prayers of all of us globally. We all love and
salute him. ”
As a tribute to Nelson Mandela, Gold Circle is to
incorporate in the main race preliminaries, the observance of a 67 second
period of silent prayer in respect and honour of Madiba. During this time
images of the country’s great leader will be featured on the large screens at
the venue.
It is also reported that upon entrance to Greyville
Racecourse on race day, patrons will be given a heart shaped emblem as a
tribute to the Father of the Nation. Additionally, a commemorative page has
been included in the information brochure hand-out which will be made available
to all patrons.
To all those that will be travelling to the event, please do
not drink and drive! Observe all road signs and arrive alive!
Remember the once advertising slogan of South Africa
Breweries – “Evidence Centres Do Not Close on Weekends!” So you will be taken
to book!
We wish Tata Mandela a speedy recovery!
