A green and glam start to International Earth Day!

The Miss Earth South Africa; joined forces with Consol and Tsogo Sun to launch their 2013 Programme: Make Every Day an Earth Day.

The launch event took place Tsogo Sun’s beautiful Palazzo Hotel in the Monte casino precinct on Sunday 21 April, the eve of International Earth Day and was attended by 50 of South Africa’s A-list celebrities, media personalities and political figureheads.

The campaign centres on the concept of treading lightly and in light of this the guests were treated to a foot-massage and pamper session by the staff of Camelot International Spa. Guests were treated to special addresses by a number of celebrities and environmental sector experts, and were asked to pledge their support to the Tread Lightly campaign, around which the Make Every Day an Earth Day programme centres.

The campaign includes the Miss Earth South Africa’s Annual Stationery Drive, Glass, Energy and Bean Planting Projects, Clothing, Blanket and Non-perishable Food Collection Drives as well as their Mandela Day, and Tree and Food Garden planting Projects.

Guests at the event included South African socialite, Edith Venter; The Wild’s Connie Ferguson; the current Miss Earth South Africa, Tamerin Jardine; Olympic Gold Medallist, Lawrence Ndlovu; re-knowned hydro political scientist, Dr. Anthony Turton; AIDS activist Criselda Kananda; radio DJ, Nicole Da Silva; Idols finalist, Pixie Bennett and leader of the UDM and Member of Parliament, General Bantu Holomisa.
