Mama Said Sessions season 2 hosted by Ntsiki Mazwai

Mama wishes abantu bam’onyaka omutjha omuhle, mahlohonolo a selemo se setjha, boitumelo mo ngwageng o moswa, n.waha muswa zwavhud^I, rinene naswona a ku vi lembe lerintshwa lerinene, onyaka omtsha onamathamasanqa, voorspoedige nuwejaar, onyaka omusha onenjabulo, ngwaga wo moswa wo monate, mnyaka lomusha lonenjabulo and a blessed new year.

For the opening of the Mama Said 2013 season the streetqueen‘s spotlight is on theatre. Our younger sister for the occasion is the fabulous Moshidi Motshega, acclaimed actress who is- to the delight of many- currently gracing our screens again as the notorious Naomi in Rhythm City.

Our January-brother is multi-awarded and internationally renowned top stage and TV-actor, esteemed producer, director and screenwriter MR Sello Maake ka Ncube who has put his footprint firmly into South Africa’s cultural landscape.

Both will share their experiences, give guidance on how to survive in the creative industry, will go in conversation with the audience and maybe perform but surely inspire and motivate the upcoming artistic generation.

Another ingredient of the Streetqueen’s special brew is the open mic session where all can strut their stuff backed by the live house band while the DJ is on duty to liven things up.

We are calling for fresh, homegrown talent, musicians, poets, writers, visual artists, film makers, dancers, actors, comedians and anyone who would like to be inspired on a Sunday afternoon by what Mama Said to join us...

The Mama Said Sessions are a mixed masala brewed by Ntsiki Mazwai; they provide a soulful, funky and a safe environment where young artists can showcase their talent and leading artists share their knowledge. Mama Said has hosted the likes of Dorothy Masuka, Thandiswa Mazwai, Kabomo, Lilian Dube, Ringo Madlingozi, Nomsa Manaka, JahSeed, Sibongile Khumalo, Pops Mohammed, Wanda Baloyi, Ntando, Letta Mbulu, Brickz, Gloria Bosman, Nothende and Abigail Kubheka in the previous editions. If you have missed them, make sure to diarise every last Sunday of the month and you’ll soon be a Mama-aficionado.
Guaranteed.
