Taste of Macufe Comedy 2012 - Donovan Goliath warmed the house

“It’s a big year for literature in South Africa… Khanyi Mbau and Kelly Khumalo have books and Bonang Matheba wrote a tweet all 140 characters by herself.” David Kau

Bloemfontein – as we hit the road from Johannesburg to the later, the trip was awesome and we could not wait to get there for Macufe 2012 Comedy. As we got here the weather got a bit chilly and cheeky but the comedians kept the audience as hot as peri-peri as the evening went by.

Donovan opened (not literally but felt so) the stage with his mix of Xhosa (went to school in Mthatha, Eastern Cape). Apparently back in Eastern he was dating Nomajwarha and they went out to a nearest bar to get some tequilas, so the usual, lemon, salt; out of nowhere Nomajwarha shouted at the bartender requesting Aromat instead of salt! The audience went down with laughter, so did I, LOL! Frankly speaking, Goliath is the next big thing in SA, though we spotted some Marc Lottering behavior.

The lineup was hot and they did not disappoint at all, Master of Ceremony David Kau featured, Anne Hirsch, Tumi Morake, Chris Mapane, Skhumba Hlophe, Thapelo Tips Seemise, Sfiso Nene, Mpho Popps (Closed the show), Chris Forest, Gavin Kelly, Donovan Goliath (Wow!). The Macufe Comedy was held at the Old Grey sports ground.

Sifiso Nene who’s featured in the clip killed the audience, “I think we must name something after Jacob Zuma… A bible maybe… Imagine Msholozi 1 verse 1…”

Pointing at the front row lady, “You can’t hide a Mellow Wood face” Donovan Goliath.

Kau jokes, “Bheki Cele was the best Police Commissioner, crime saw Bheki Cele and left, his dark black and with that uniform he’s navy… I’ll call the Police if I see him”

Tumi Morake was one in two ladies in the house and she was so stunning, she did very well in a stage dominated by men, as for the ladies this was her message, “When you wear Indian weaves business ideas just come…”

The show was awesome – if you missed it please do catch Blacks Only by David Kau or catch it next year, Macufe 2013. Let’s now gear up for the weekend.
