The Mama Said Sessions: Ntsiki ‘Streetqueen’ Mazwai hosts another session - 'Men are what their mothers made them'

Ntsiki ‘Streetqueen’ Mazwai will host the fourth Mama Said Session at Joburg Promusica's Basement Theatre on Sunday, 24 June with Pops Mohamed, Admiral and Jahseed.

“Men are what their mothers made them,” so this month the Streetqueen turns her spotlight on exactly that, men.

Pops Mohamed, multi-instrumentalist, musician and producer, better known as the minister of music, will take on the role of “older sister” while Admiral and Jahseed – who have been DJing together since 1997 - will be the “younger sisters”.

All three will give guidance on how to survive the diverse music industry. They will go in conversation with the audience and, above all, inspire and motivate the upcoming and budding artistic generation. So all ears and eyes will be glued at the boys as they take the stage to accumulate their roles in our fourth session.

If you did not know, here’s what the sessions are: The Mama Said Sessions are a mixed masala brewed by Ntsiki Mazwai. They provide a soulful, funky and a safe environment where young artists can showcase their talent and leading artists share their knowledge.

Another ingredient of the Streetqueen’s special brew is the open mic session, where all can strut their stuff backed by the live house band while the DJ on duty to liven things up.

Mama Said has already hosted the likes of Dorothy Masuka, Thandiswa Mazwai, Lilian Dube and Nomsa Manaka. If you have missed them, make sure to diarise every last Sunday of the month and you’ll soon be a Mama-aficionado – guaranteed!
