Window shopping on players will not help Kaizer Chiefs at all

Doctor Khumalo
The four consecutive losses of Kaizer Chiefs before winning 2-0 against Mamelodi Sundowns have raised eyebrows on what is happening at Naturena. The assistant caretaker Doctor Khumalo has dismissed all the speculations that there are cracks in the Amakhosi family. Speaking just after the match 16v said the victory over Mamelodi Sundowns has proven most people wrong and this is the beginning of great things.

Since the departure of the Serbian coach Vladimir Vermezovic it has been hard for Amakhosi to collect maximum points. Their loss against Super Sport United left the fans frustrated and angry at the Chiefs’ management.  They were shouting and throwing bottles on the heads of players as they were passing on the tunnel after they were defeated 2-1 by Super Sport United. The fans also shouted for Bobby Motaung as they wanted to talk to him but he never responded to the call.

It was not for the first time for Amakhosi fans to blame Motaung for Chiefs failures. They even asked Kaizer Motaung to remove him from being the team manager and all these fingers have been pointing on him.  The former coach Vladimir was also described as a mentor who had run out of ideas to take the team to greater heights.  Then the question we should ask is what is wrong at Naturena?

It was said that the former coach left divisions between senior players and the younger players. He was sacked but still the results were poor, so what? After the loss against Maritzburg united Doctor Khumalo was quoted saying his players are not well mentally, indeed maybe he’s a “Doctor” by profession to decide such. He also pointed transition as the main reason for their defeats, while at the same time a number of reasons have been identified for poor results at Naturena.

Earlier in the season Kaizer Chiefs boss (Kaizer Motaung: Pictured Left) made it clear that he want the league trophy at Naturena but those dreams have been shattered before the end of the season. He has drastically failed to help his technical team to carry his mandate. Even before the window period could be opened it there was plausible evidence that Amakhosi squad needs to be strengthened. The fans were angry at Bobby Motaung for not using the opportunity and of course they have every right to be as they spend their cash to go and support the ever poor performing team.

Itumeleng Khune
Few weeks back Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng   Khume was quoted in the media saying foreign coaches confuse South African players with their method of coaching. He said their type of football has no flair and results which attract multitude of fans to the stadiums. If you look back on the history of this team you will find that they have achieved most of their trophies with foreign coaches. Perhaps Doctor was right when he said his players are not fit mentally because this is just an awful justification.

Ace Khuse the caretaker coach has been singing about the lack of luck and going back to the drawing board. Perhaps with drawing board part it is working because they have managed to snatch their first win since they took over. About fortune it’s a controversial one. Is soccer about luck or about quality players who will always rise beyond expectations?

It’s a that fact Kaizer Chiefs need go all out and get quality players who will add value in the team and maintain the rich history of this team. Since Musona departure Amakhosi haven’t won anything.  They have good players but it’s not enough. Window shopping on players will not help out.

Khumalo emphasized on the point that all is well at Naturena it was just the transition period. Now they will go all-out for positive results and bring back smiles on the face of the fans of the Phefeni Glamour boys. All eyes are on them. They have to make it happen no matter what. As for Bobby Motaung he must pray for more wisdom on running the team despite of how he got the position.
