Newspapers over the Weekend: EC Government to intervene in Zahara’s recent media, alleged treatment and family

Celebrities local and international made news as usual at the weekend - so we thought why not keep those that were partying up to date as to what happened during the weekend. Ranging from the EC government stepping in on the Zahara issue, 50 Cent getting sued, local musicians doing their first in South Africa Global Warming Music Festival called "The Colour Of Music Is Green," and Kanye West and Kim Kardashian got the Kardashians Approval. To finalize it - local musicians (growing) getting a major financial injection in their musical bums, mostly from rural areas. Now let's see who took a blow.  50 CENT Sued for Allegedly Stealing Sample and Just Not Caring
50 Cent is being accused of sampling a song without permission on an album he released for free online nearly three years ago -- and the guy suing claims 50 knows he took the song ... but just doesn't care!

According to a lawsuit filed in New York, Robert Poindexter of The Persuaders claims 50 used a snippet from his band's song "Love Gonna Pack Up and Walk Out" on a song called "Redrum." 

The song appeared on an album that 50 posted online for free ... which Poindexter claims 50 feels gives him immunity from any copyright claims. Read More on TMZ

Local musicians are gearing up for the first South African global warming music festival that takes place on May 5 in Ekurhuleni.
The festival, called The Colour Of Music Is Green, features an all-star hip hop and house DJ line-up. It will be held at the Huntersfield Stadium in Katlehong, near Alberton.
At the centre of the initiative is festival ambassador Senzo "Kwesta" Vilakazi who will also perform on the day. Kwesta will be accompanied by Teargas, MiCasa, AKA, Culoe de Song, DJ Kent, Kuli Chana and many more. For more The New Age"

"Slikour Feeling Misunderstood
Local Hip-Hop musician Siyabonga Metane, AKA Slikour, took a lot of flack from the public after releasing his latest track, which was titled ‘Blackz are Foolz’.

Perhaps not surprisingly, the controversial song has not gone down well with black South Africans. Debates about the merits and the meaning of the song have raged on since its release, and radio station switchboards have lit up with complaints from offended citizens. But an unrepentant Slikour claims that his intentions have been misunderstood. "Boost for up-and-coming artists

MARGINALISED but talented artists especially in rural areas stand to benefit from a new music initiative financed by Gauteng Enterprise Propeller and music production company, Yza Yza.

The multi-million-rand project is expected to create 3,500 jobs and give opportunities to 250 artists annually throughout the country. Gauteng Enterprise Propeller chief operations officer Thandiwe Ngqobe said that the funding body was attracted to the initiative due to economic opportunity and the empowering of artists.
