Jomo Sono must change the manner in which he handle things

At an earlier time this season on this column we asked you whether Jomo Cosmos was going to survive relegation end of the season.  We are toward the end of the season and the answer seems to be evident. Jomo Sono needs to change the manner in which he does things if he wants to remain in the premier soccer league. Currently the team is at the bottom of the log they need a miracle to survive Cosmos have been playing notable football but failed, however they did not make the grade to maintain their standard particularly if Ezenkosi scored first.

In a game against Ajax Cape town, Cosmos was leading by a goal and everyone thought they were going to bring home three points but Ajax equalized and scored another goal inviting more troubles for the Cosmos. They also showed character against Orlando Pirates but lost concentration on the dying minutes of the game. After that game Jomo Sono was the only person who remained adamant that his side will disappoint many when they avoid to be sent to go and dance on the bushes. In spite of this the players were so disappointed and frustrated with their latest results as they keep on conceding on the fading minutes of the game.

In all teams when results are not convincing, all finger and toes point at the coach. In this case who do you point? Yes its bra J he is the coach he must be fired. He had great moments as a player. During his days he scored crucial goals for Pirates even on his wedding day. It’s a moment that is still clear in the minds of those who witnessed this match. He became a coach and developed remarkable talent. He recruited players like Philemon Masinga, Helman Mkhelele, Sizwe Motaung and Mark Fish. He went on his career as the coach of Bafana Bafana at the Africa cup of nation tournament in Burkina Faso in 1998.

Jomo Sono’s history is very rich, nonetheless that will not save his team from relegation. He is a legend but he needs to fire himself and recruit someone with fresh but not dull ideas. He has made too much trips to the national first division, he must be tired. The guys he played with like Kaizer Motaung are watching from the stands why can’t he do the same?

If miracles or Muthi work in the field of play need double Muthi and double miracles or he has the whole next season waiting for him to dance on the mud. The veteran goalkeeper Avril Phadi was quoted in the media saying they trust the almighty to save their sinking Ship. All eyes are on them will they survive? That’s the question their play on the ground will have to accommodate for…
