BRINGING MUSIC TO THE PEOPLE
The New
Afroteens are thrilled to be joined on March 17 2012 at 5pm by none other than
Isidingo’s Calvin (Maurice Paige) when they perform outside KweKwe’s in Njoli
Street, Kwazakhele. This will be a treat for everyone who comes to the
performance. He is a huge favourite of the band members and represents youth
and achievement for young people in the Nelson Mandela Metro.
The New
Afroteens Township Tour is gathering momentum as it enters its final
performances. So far it has been an
amazing success according to their aims, which are:
- The band members wanted to ‘pay it forward’ to the people of Nelson Mandela Bay by giving them their music, free. They are grateful for the support they have been given by people in the Metro, whether fans, event organisers, promoters or fellow musicians.
- They expressed a wish to inspire other young people with their music. The band members have wanted to show children that they can do what they want with their lives, if they work hard.
The performances
have had crowds in places where the band has never been before. There have been
throngs of young kids who patiently sit and watch from when the band sets up
until the band leaves. We are sure they
are inspired!
The Tour has
been undertaken in partnership with Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism and On the Rise
Productions.
The New
Afroteens have still to perform at Helenvale (March 10 at 3.30pm); Kwe Kwe’s (March 17 at 5pm) and lastly,
Soweto-on-Sea (March 24 5pm).
