Will Cosmos survive in the PSL?

It is still a chief question on whether Jomo Cosmos will stay alive in the relegation. So far the results are not persuasive. After a match Wednesday the owner and Coach Jomo Sono believes his side is improving following their dreadful season. Maybe he might be right. This point could really heighten the morale of his boys. Cosmos has just been promoted from the national First Division League. Bra Jomo was relegated in 2008, however he returned to PSL for 2009/10 having won the Inland Stream and promotion play-off against Carara Kicks. After one season they had to go back “Ehlathini” (to the bush). A lot was assumed about his team. Others suggested he should give his position to the young blood. after all ups and downs he remained rigid and made it clear that he still believes in his coaching tactics, and he believe his team can reach greater heights.

So far Ezenkosi have played four games and they managed to snatch a single point. They lost 2-1 against Kaizer Chiefs; they also lost 2-0 against Mamelodi Sundowns. They failed to a point against Free State Stars as Stars took all the three points. On Wednesday they got a point as they drew 0-0 against AmaZulu. After the loss against Amakhosi, Sono said he needed experienced players in his squad. He then brought the likes of Alouis Ngwerume a Zimbabwean striker. The club also signed Vincent Kobola (Swallows), Pheogo Maebela (AmaTurks) and the other four. All these players are projected to fulfill
the dream of the big man Jomo Sono.

A question we should ask ourselves is that, is Bra J having a fit Technical team that can add value to the team. We Know Jomo is a legend but he needs a
tough team behind him. If he is surrounded by people who always say “yes” then we might see his team fighting for position 12 on the log come end of the season. One may argue that Cosmos should not be judged as the team is still trying to gel. I agree with that point. Ezenkosi are playing a good football. Their left back, Mid fielders and strikers need to be strengthened. Their left back was mostly exposed against Amakhosi. However against AmaZulu there was improvement.

Jomo Cosmos even now have 26 games in PSL on hand excluding competitions. This means they have all the time in the in the world to go all-out for the silverware, If not fight for being in the top 8. Will Jomo survive this season? It all depends on his tactics and players. On the log they are at number 15th the darkest spot when it’s towards the end of the season. Let’s wait and see. After all the team have a wealthy history. It has produced good players like Helman Mkhalele, Philimon Masinga, Manuel “Tico Tico” Bucuene, Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Digang
Mabalane and Vallery Nahayo the list is endless.
