King Korn Limpopo Music Awards shine spotlight on homegrown stars @TheLIMAs_

SOUTH AFRICA - Limpopo’s finest musicians will dazzle guests at the second annual King Korn Limpopo Music Awards (KING KORN LIMA). Come 15 September 2018, Meropa Casino in Polokwane will be abuzz with an array of music stars and performers vying for top honours from their home province.

The list of performers lined up for the big night extravaganza comprises the who’s who of Limpopo. Crowd pleasers King Monada, Winnie Mashaba, Candy Tsa MaNdebele and Pastor Lungi Ndala lead the headliners who will showcase the finest the province has to offer. Others billed for the big  KING KORN LIMA stage are Benny Mayengani, L’weli Netshivhale, Ntsikwane, Mash Sarila, Lekkersweet and Daniel Marven. It promises to be a night of explosive sounds and awe-inspiring melodies.

KING KORN LIMA honours the rich heritage of the province including Best Male Artist, Best Female Artist, Best Group/Duo/Collaboration other categories which celebrate music from indigenous languages spoken in Limpopo - Sepedi, TshiVenda, XiTsonga and Khilobedu. Music genres such as gospel, rap/hip hop, Afro-pop, R&B, soul, reggae, kwaito and jazz are also recognised, along with technical talent such as producers and DJs.  In addition, there will be gongs up for grabs for Best Live DVD Recording and Best Music Video.

The awards are open to musicians who are born or reside in Limpopo with 15 categories to choose from. The eclectic mix of nominated artists who were revealed at a glittering ceremony in Polokwane on 5 July 2018 include gospel greats Winnie Mashaba, Taki Ndou and Pastor Lungi Ndala, dance music stars Candy Tsa Mandebele, Da Capo, Chymamusique, Rabs Vhafui, King Monada and Mashabela crooner Mahlatze Vocal and actor/musician Tswyza.

The awards return this year supercharged with King Korn as a headline sponsor. They comment: ‘King Korn understands that the heartbeat of Africa can be heard in our music.
