Ethekwini Municipality hosted the South Regional Business Fair recently from July 27th - 29th at the KwaMnyandu Shopping Centre, Umlazi, to celebrate 20 years of the Durban Business Fair.

This year, the Durban Fashion Fair component hosted exhibition space, a fashion show as well as a panel discussion during the 3 day Business Fair. The fashion show gave DFF 2018 new faces a chance to walk for the first time before the actual Durban Fashion Fair, which will be held from September 19-22 at the ICC.

Overall, the models were excited to walk the runway for the first time as DFF 2018 new faces as part of their in-house model training programme. They were given the opportunity to model for some of the biggest local names in the fashion industry from the House of St Luke, Duke – Clothe Your Soul, Indoni Fashion House, Emerikay and garments retailing at the DFF Emporium to highlight a few.  They are also looking forward to their next walk on the catwalk before the DFF at the North Regional Durban Business Fair, which takes place from August 17-19 at the Bridge City Shopping Mall in KwaMashu.

The discussion panel held talks on the ‘Business of Fashion and opportunities within the industry’. Panel members included Fashion designer & owner of DUKE ‘Clothe Your Soul’ Sandile Mngadi, Thembeka Vilange, content producer & owner of 8705 Media, DFF Emporium Retail Manager, Percy Ngcongo, Fashion designer & owner of Emerikay, Claudia Novuka, as well as founder of LillyBelle beauty products and fashion, Futhi Mkhize. The guest speakers discussed some misconceptions about the fashion industry and gave tips about how to be successful within the fashion related business.

Once again, the Durban Fashion Fair was able to provide a platform for designers, models, potential entrepreneurs to showcase their work and market their products whilst networking with big names in business, creating business linkages. It was a very successful event.
