Nkulee is the daughter of the late South African Reggae legend, Lucky Dube.
Nkulee shared the exciting news on her social media profiles on Monday. In a Facebook post, she also revealed that the New York State Senate and New York State Assembly issued proclamations honouring her for her exemplary service.
"Everyone in this life is blessed in one way or another. However, there are some individuals who are blessed with talent, beauty, intelligence and in very rare cases distinction," shared Dube.
On Monday, South Africa's Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa also expressed his excitement via Twitter: "We send our heartfelt congratulations to South African Reggae artist Nkuelee Dube, for receiving the ultimate distinction of having the City of Buffalo in New York and Mayor Byron Brown issue a proclamation naming... (Monday) Nkulee Dube Day. We are very proud of you."
