RAMAPHOSA Elected As The New South African President

Deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa, the newly elected leader of the African National Congress (ANC), has been appointed as the new president of the Republic of South Africa on Thursday.

Ramaphosa became acting president Wednesday night after Jacob Zuma threw in the towel and resigned after the ANC recalled him and made it clear that if he did not step down he would face a no-confidence motion in Parliament.

The motion brought by the Economic Freedom Fighters and joined by the ANC had been scheduled for Thursday afternoon, but will now no longer take following Zuma's resignation.
The Speaker of Parliament Baleka Mbethe wished the former President of South Africa all the best for his future endeavors.
The Democratic Alliance (Opposition Party) has also wished Ramaphosa well in his appointment as the newly elected President of South Africa.
The DA leader Mmusi Maimane said that they will hold Ramaphosa accountable.
