The month of July has been dubbed Mandela month as we
celebrate the ideals that former statesman Mr Nelson Mandela lived by. This has
been carried on by many influential people who are able to make a difference to
those who are less fortunate.
Multitalented producer, composer and singer Zonke Dikana has
taken it upon herself to bring forth attention to a charity that she holds
dearly to her heart. Zonke, who has
dazzled many with her music, brought some much needed sunshine to orphaned
children from Thuthuzela Aid Community Centre by bringing to life the spirit of
Madiba in celebrating and bringing joy to the children of Thuthuzela.
“I have been blessed beyond measure and in the spirit of
uTata Madiba I would like to share my blessings with others” said the
multi-platinum selling songstress. “Thuthuzela is a haven that I believe
deserves to be highlighted for the immense good work they are doing for the
community.”
Zonke, who has been a supporter of many charitable efforts,
has chosen to focus on Thuthuzela in an effort to garner much needed financial
and public support to keep the home running. She handed over a cheque of
R50 000, which will provide the much needed relief to the organisation.
Mama Lizzy, one of the care takers was taken aback by Zonke’s donation to the
centre as it’ll come in handy as they’ll be moving to new premises. “I am at a
loss for words, I don’t know what to say, this is one gift that we as
Thuthuzela will cherish said an emotional Mama Lizzy.
Speaking at the community centre Zonke stated that she would
like to bring attention to the orphanage and make it’s plight known to the
public. She indicated that she has been working with the centre since last
year, the songbird has since been part of this phenomenal organisation that
houses abandoned and orphaned children in the township of Alexandra.
