Raising a toast to the industry’s finest and the best spirits in the business, the winners of the 19th
annual International Spirits Challenge were recently revealed. Local
favourite Red Heart Caribbean Rum has been announced as a winner of one of the coveted global awards
in this year’s highly acclaimed competition, namely a Gold Medal in the
Rum and Cane Spirits Category, and is the only Standard Dark Rum in this
category to have achieved such an award.
Winning an ISC medal is considered an outstanding achievement and
underlines a producer’s commitment to quality and innovation through the
spirit.
The International
Spirits Challenge (ISC) is the most respected and influential spirits
competition in the world, recognising three key areas of the industry
namely Tasting, Design and Packaging/Marketing. Since
its inception in 1995, the ISC has become a truly global competition
receiving more than 1,000 entries from nearly 70 countries worldwide.
Known as a premier event focused on promoting outstanding quality
spirits from around the world, the competition is founded
on a rigorous and independent judging process which serves to encourage
the high calibre of spirits, designs and campaigns entered into the
competition each year. It is supported by most of the world's leading
spirits producers as the international standard
for quality and excellence – winning an ISC award is therefore an
impressive achievement for any spirit that passes the scrupulous blind
assessment from the experienced panel of specialist judges.
As the name suggests,
Red Heart Caribbean Rum is made with love and passion, combining all the
finest pot still Rums from the heart of the Caribbean and proudly
bottled in South Africa. Red Heart pot still Rums
are matured in white oak casks, giving it the perfect smooth, rich
flavour and a depth of character.
