Black Mambazo, with lead vocalist Joseph Tshabalala, became the first South
African group to win a Grammy award. The group won their first award for the
best traditional folk album 'Shaka Zulu' which was produced by music icon Paul
Simon. Paul Simon was captivated by their music and helped the group conquer
the international music scene. The group has since been nominated for six
additional Grammy awards, including a nomination in 2001 for the album 'Live
From Royal Albert Hall'.
It was a befitting honor for this outstanding group
that has sold over 9 million copies in South Africa and internationally.

in music including Dolly Parton, Vusi Mahlasela, Melissa Etheridge, Des’Ree,
