Ernie Smith To Wow Fans at the Lion of Africa Music Expressions Concert!

Multi-award winning South African contemporary jazz icon, Ernie Smith, is set to take centre stage during the fifth installment of the Lion of Africa Music Expressions series. The event is taking place at one of South Africa's most popular theatres, Yamaha Theatre at YAMAHA Woodmead, on Friday, 20 September 2013.

Ernie has earned himself a reputation as South Africa’s highly celebrated, talented, home grown guitar player, music producer, outstanding vocalist and songwriter. He is known internationally, and has had an illustrious music career, having recorded with the likes of Jonathan Butler, Bebe Winans, Kirk Whallum, Israel Houghton and more.


His love for music started at the young age of 13, when his mother bought him his first guitar. Ernie has five albums under his belt and a 6th Jazz Album due for release in October, 2013. He has won three SAMA awards, a Metro and Kora award for the most promising male musician in Africa.

Sponsored by Lion of Africa Insurance, in association with Swazitainment Productions, the Lion of Africa Music Expressions show takes place monthly on Thursday or Friday evenings.

The music series aims to unearth new talent in the performing arts arena by featuring some of South Africa’s top music performers alongside other emerging creative talent in the performing arts.
