e.tv’s Scandal! announces new additional timeslot!

And Club 808 moves to Saturday!

Scandal!, one of e.tv’s prime-time local soapies, will be extending its time-slot to include a Friday broadcast from 5 July 2013.

The soapie, which is currently in its eighth year of Production, has experienced momentous growth in viewership and due to the extensive demand from loyal viewers to extend the Scandal offering has encouraged Channel to undertake the additional weekly episode.

Since its inception in 2005, Scandal! has not only won numerous awards but also celebrated many milestones such as the 1 500th episode last year.  The soapie also has a strong social empowerment focus, with the Scandal! Cares initiative and other community projects, with the most recent one being the debt management campaign in partnership with The World Bank.

“Scandal! is one of our prime soapies with an average viewership of 3million viewers each night,” says Monde Twala, e.tv Channel Head. “It is currently one of the fastest growing soapies in the country, and in this light we have undertaken to invest additional resources to continuously bring viewers more of their favourite TV production.  We have been inundated with requests  for more of the soapie and staying in line with our vision to grow our local content and to give our viewers the very best, we have decided to add an additional episode per week.”

The decision to extend the Scandal! offering has been warmly welcomed by Ochre Media, the Production team commissioned by e.tv to Produce the daily drama.

“The entire Production team is thrilled that our tireless efforts in bringing a quality and relevant production to viewers has not only been embraced, but is in such demand that we can extend the soapie to a 5-day timeslot,” says Ilse van Hemert, Series Producer. “The decision has been carefully planned, and viewers can anticipate new faces, new sets and more gritty drama in the forthcoming months.  We have the utmost faith that our fans will not be disappointed with what we have in store.”
