Comedy Central in association with DStv presents Blitz Patrollie!

From the team that brought you the hugely popular and iconic comedy sketch series “ The Pure Monate Show” comes a hilarious new police action film.

Paying homage to movies such as Bad Boys, Rush Hour, Starsky & Hutch, 48 Hours and other iconic buddy cop movies,  “Blitz Patrollie” promises to bring a fresh local twist to this popular genre.

The film stars comedy greats David Kau, in his first foray on the big screen, and Joey Rasdien (“Material”) ,  as  humbling partners fighting crime in this action packed adventure complete with shoot outs, car chases, hair raising stunts and a ton of gags ! Blitz Patrollie blasts into theatres nationwide on Friday the 10th May 2013.

The cast, which reads like the line-up of a mega stand-up comedy show, also includes Kagiso Lediga, Chris Forrest, David Kibuuka, Tol A$$ Mo,  Sans Moonsamy, Kaseran Pillay and the legendary Mel Miller with some accomplished thespians, Kid Sithole, June Van Merch and Craig Urbani also on the bill.

The film chronicles the adventures of Rummy Augustine (Rasdien) and his partner Ace Dikolobe (Kau), two police officers who have had the misfortune of being stationed at the “Central” Police Station,  the most chaotic police precinct in Johannesburg. Rummy is bogged down with trying to start a family while his violent and abusive mother-in-law just won't move out. Meanwhile, the overzealous Ace can think of nothing better to do than to put on his "lucky" bulletproof vest and head out to do battle with criminals. The two accidentally stumble upon a massive drug haul and what ensues is a madcap escapade as the duo encounter some of the city's craftiest crooks in a race against time to catch the bad guys and claim their place in crime fighting history.

Slickly directed by Andrew Wessels, and written by Kagiso Lediga, this movie breaks new ground for local comedies.  Lediga says the script was borne out of a need for edgy comedies that resonate with South Africans.  It is the first feature film to come out of Diprente Films, producers of the popular satirical news show “Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola” .

Blitz Patrollie is proudly presented by Comedy Central (DStv Channel 122), DStv and the Mail & Guardian as the media partners supported by Podium…The Comedy Merchants while the movie’s production was made possible by partners; Industrial Development Corporation, National Film & Video Foundation, Gauteng Film Commission and the Department of Trade & Industry.

Commented Evert Van Der Veer, Head of Comedy Central, Africa, “Comedy Central is  proud to support South African comedy through our association with this hilarious “shoot ‘em up” movie spoof, which enlists the services of so many top SA comedians who have featured on our channel in Comedy Central Presents…Live at Parker’s and other comedy specials.”

Blitz Patrollie releases at cinemas nationwide on the 10th May with premieres in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban preceding the film’s release courtesy of Remy Martin.
