Premiere African Artists Lira, Mi Casa, DJ Anane’ Vega Join Republic of Botswana Ambassador Seretse to Announce Participation in 2013 Ambassadors Inaugural Ball in US


WASHINGTON, DC, December 13, 2012—Award winning South African  adult contemporary recording artist Lira and prominent band Mi Casa will join celebrated West African DJ Anané Vega and Her Excellency Ambassador Tebelelo Seretse of the Republic of Botswana to the United States in a press meet and greet to formally announce their involvement in the 2013 Ambassadors Inaugural Ball. Taking place in Washington, DC in honor of United States President, Barack Obama following the official swearing in ceremonies on January 21, 2013. The illustrious event will be held at the The Mead Center for American Theater, Home of the Arena Stage . Acclaimed American DJ Biz Markie will be featured on the main stage, other VIPS and celebrities will be announced in the coming days. The Johannesburg press event will take place Saturday, December 15, 2013 in the main lobby of the Michelangelo Hotel located at 135 West Street, Nelson Mandela Square, Sandown, 20146 at 10:00am.

The Ambassadors Inaugural Ball will include a stirring tribute, honoring President Barack & First Lady Michelle Obama . Participating in this tribute will be other Heads of State, Ambassadors, Dignitaries, Consul Generals, and key Embassy officials. This event will also be attended by members of the United States Congress, State Department officials, cabinet members, appointees, as well as, other luminaries of politics and business. The 2013 Ambassadors Inaugural Ball: Promoting International Peace, Unity & Diplomacy will be hosted exclusively by the international Ambassadors community. With over 2,000 expected guests, this soiree will be one of the most memorable inauguration events. Host committee members representing a myriad of diverse races, religions, cultures and countries have partnered to present this event, including; Ambassadors to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago , Kosovo , Morocco, Panama and the Republic of Botswana. Her Excellency Ambassador Tebelelo Seretse Tebelelo Seretse (Nee) Mazile became Ambassador of Botswana to the United States on February 16, 2011. From 1999 until 2004 she served in the government of Botswana. She was Minister of Works, Transport & Communications from February 2002- October 2004; Minister of Trade Industry, Wildlife & Tourism from September 2000-January 2002; Acting Minister for Presidential Affairs from January 2000-August 2000; and Assistant Minister for Presidential Affairs from
October 1999-December 1999.She served as Senior Research officer from 1978-1984 at the Bank of Botswana, and Finance Manager for BP Botswana (Pty) Ltd from 1984 - 1989. She has been a member of a variety of boards, at different times,from 1996-2010, including Denel, Bank of Botswana, Debswana Diamond Company, and Botswana Insurance Holding Ltd, and has served as a chairperson of the Labour Advisory Board, RPC Data, Funeral Services Group, and Diragake (Pty) Ltd. She was Director of the board of Excess Petroleum (Pty) Ltd. She was head of the African delegation group for the Fourth World Trade Organisation, Ministerial Conference in DOHA in 2001. Seretse has been a member of the Law Society of Botswana and Admitted  Attorney since 1995, and is a member of the Delta Mu Delta Honour Society for Economics. Since 2009 she has been a member of the Central Committee Botswana Democratic Party.
