Opinion: Life is too short and the thought of death can change your attitude

The thought of dying brings some terror in my life...

I remember walking by the Graveyard, the thought of what did these people say/did when they were on their last bed, some had the chance, some were taken by surprise, some their consciousness ceased with heartaches, some freely by releasing all the things that bothered them and the things they did to other people, words like ‘I am sorry’ were uttered, ‘I always remember you’, ‘I’ll take care of you’, ‘I’ll wait for you in Heaven;’ you know all the things that people have in their imaginary.

One important thing one needs to do before they die is to follow your heart. Steve Jobs says, “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.  Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living with the results of other people’s thinking.  Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice, heart and intuition.  They somehow already know what you truly want to become.  Everything else is secondary.” So don’t let people disturb your dream, be like a mother who’s carrying a baby and let that baby grow every day.

Your thoughts are as important as determiners to what results might come out tomorrow – you need to be careful of what runs in your mind on a daily basis, you need to let go of words like, maybe, if, it was not for me, I am a failure and start thinking positive. Surround yourself with people that will add value to your career and personal being. Don’t be afraid to let go of a friendship/relationship that brings stress to you every day. Be brave to say, “I can’t do this anymore.”

Say what you need to say – don’t bottle everything in your mind, don’t keep every hurt without sharing it. When this blows up, you might end up suffering a mental breakdown or suffer from stress and depression. Say it now! It might be your last chance to say what might change you for the better. Don’t let your opinions bring you across as a foolish person, control them, be logic as much as you can with them. SAY WHAT YOU NEED TO SAY!

Do what you need to do – often every morning we wake up with the fear of the unknown and that hinders some important decisions and actions that we have to decide about our lives. You wake up, you’re ready for that interview, knowing the list of possible candidates, you start to think you’ll never make it. Trust me there are no miracles, everything is bound to happen at its own time, so this might be your own time. Don’t let what other persons do deter what skills you might offer, that’s a danger to yourself.

Make a difference – in life there’s so much and so little we can do, so take a full advantage of every day that you’re still alive with all the possibilities. Don’t be a scumbag! Don’t be a coward to shout change. Remember in life you get what you put in, so be careful what you put in so that your return can be as valuable as your investment. Doing something nice to another person might change their world, so don’t be selfish.

Stay happy and humble – remember happiness depends on you, the way of thinking within you, often I have found out that I am angry because of what is on my mind and no one did anything to me. Negative thoughts can anger you for the rest of your life, surely, you don’t want to die unhappy. Put a smile on that face and see how happy you’ll be today. Let go of grudges that end up affecting your well being.

Be proud of yourself – reward yourself every time your goal grows to another level. Be the greatest critic to yourself, criticize yourself every time you start to mess things up and are not limited when you are doing good, critic you to find out how you turn that good to best/better. But don’t be your greatest enemy, should that happen, ignorance towards what you potentially can succeed on will shape and you will lose focus.

Finally – become the best version of you, stop living with regrets and forgive those who go to higher lengths to hurt you. Make sure your finances are in order and you have nominated beneficiaries. Leave a great legacy, that’s what people will remember about you...
