Cricket: The Proteas Hashed England on their home ground!

At home? England? Yet South Africa DEMOLISHED them on their home ground!

It looked so easy and we ended up forgetting that we were playing against world number one test side in the world. Just losing two wickets in a score of over 600, that was just mauling. Yes, it took us one day to arrive in England but when we did, we never looked back, an innings win’ I never thought of, especially in the ground that we never ever won in superb work.

South Africa didn’t just win, but break so many records along the way, with Hashim Amla’s 311not out, being the most notable one. First South Africa to score a triple century, stuttering. And afterwards he still says, “These innings are not my best, I rate them at number two”. It just took 3 batsmen for SA to combine a total of over 600, with Smith making 131 and Kallis 182 not out, of cause Alviro made a duck.

Graeme Smith became the 7th player in history to score a century in his 100 appearances, and 4th as a Captain and first South African to score five centuries in English land. It was an all round resounding showed by our team, but this was just the beginning of the work. England won’t lie down and allow us to crush them, so this makes the next two tests matches even more interesting.

But we still have our own problems, what we do with our wickets keeping position. AB didn’t do that badly, but also we didn’t need him in our batting. So what if we need him in the next test match? Will he keep and continue batting well? We saw the lost of concentration when he dropped Bell of Tahir, but if they bring in Tsolekile, then for whom?  Duminy and Rudolf didn’t get a chance to bat so we can’t just drop them.

If South Africa is serious about being the number one team in the world, then next Thursday clash at Leeds is a’ MUST WIN’. They must win that clash and there’s no way back to the English, that number one spot is ours. Our bowling and batting line up is just irresistible. On any day we can beat anyone, it's just on our execution and staying grounded fully.

To Gary, Smith and CO, it’s all up to you, the rainbow nation is behind you and cheering you, just for once do not disappoint. Go sink the English on their home soil.

Till next time…
