Tennis News: Sharapova and Nadal keeps climbing!

Rafael Nadal
French Open is concluded and to Rafael Nadal and Maria Sharapova it was another good value added in their record collections. For the Russian Sharapova, she became the 10th woman in tennis history to win all four Grand Slam titles, when she defeated Italy’s Sara Errani in French Open final, and in the process climbed to number one in world rankings.

For the Spaniard Nadal it was another blossom accomplishment, he reached the final without dropping a set, removing everyone in-front of him effortlessness. He blown away world number one Novak Djokovic In the final, surprising him with a formidable start and Djokovic never recovered.  It was a hard task for Novak to knock down the king of Roland Garros at his game though.

Maria Sharapova
Currently I can’t see any sporting man/woman topping the two players, if any-then who? Nadal and Sharapova will be also leading their respective teams to the Olympics in London-Spain and Russia, so as Djokovic who’ll be leading his nation, Serbia. And I can’t find a way to bet against them winning a gold medal for their countries, they are on top and they deserve all the attention around them.

One wonders how many records will Nadal have when he finally call it a day in Tennis, currently he have 11 Grand Slams at the young age of 25 and he seems to be going up and up. French Open was his seventh title-a record.
For Sharapova-it is refreshing to see her playing as good as she is, following a scare with his shoulder injury and that virtually wrecks her career.

Young and upcoming tennis players can learn a lot from these two tennis “gods”. They don’t talk too much but they do their talking on the tennis court. Even when things don’t go their way, but they remain silent and retort all the critics on the field, and it has worked wonders for them. I hope young tennis players are learning from them and mock-up their game and personality around them.

Sharapova completed her Grand Slam in French Open following her triumph at Wimbledon in 2004, US Open in 2006, and Australian Open in 2008. Who can bet against her repeating the same feet as she is still also at a tender age of 25? These have increased her global status enormously, and made her the biggest earning sportswoman on earth.

Will they both win their respective countries gold medals in 2012 London Olympics? People can talk and judge but one thing for sure, time will tell. But Russian Maria Sharapova and Spaniard Rafael Nadal deserve my credit and applaud for their heroics this week, they are my best tennis players out there-stats have proven it, maybe our own Kevin Anderson will get there one day?

Till next time…
