Cape Town International Jazz Festival: Jill Scott will be one of the BIG names

Jill Scott will be one of the big names at this year’s Cape Town International jazz festival. Jill Scott who is born on (April 4th 1972) A Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter is also known for her soulful poetry and acting. Miss Scott has been in a number of television series and movies recently, and she completed a series where she plays a detective in Botswana. She will be embracing the festival with her golden voice with songs such as Golden, A Long Walk, and The Way.

The director of the festival Riaad Lombard confirmed in an interview with Vuyo Mbuli on SABC2's Morning Live that it took them about four years to get the artist to come and perform at the festival. The festival, in its 13th annual edition, contains about 42 local and international Jazz artists; with a special tribute to fallen stars like Lucky Dube and Miriam Makeba.

Since the event started in 2000 it has grown with each year, with a growing number of music lovers that numbers 34 000. The festival will be held at the Cape Town Convention Centre,  30-31 March 2012. Scott will be sharing the stage with well known local and international stars and one of the stars that stand out in this year's festival is our very own ground breaker ZAHARA.

There will be a free community concert on the 28th of March 2012 at the Green Market Square.
