I am SORRY Somizi that I wanted you to keep a paper trail

It is one of my major duties as an entertainment blogger to inbox celebrities via Facebook and ask for their emails so that I may send interview requests. And yes Somizi once agreed and I went ahead and crafted my questions, well, if you didn't know in journalism we call questions a craftsmanship, why? Because you don't just write whatever hell you want to ask, but you write for the sake of getting certain information that will keep your readers amused and coming back to your publication. 


When I have many questions to ask I prefer using email as not to mis-quote my interview subjects. But according to the Diva Somizi I was not professional at all, and this is what I said to get that kind of an insult, "Oh yazi I forgot to list u on the artists who agreed to answer my interview but never got back to me..." and he responded back by saying, "what ever..." Honestly this pissed me off big time and I told him that there was no need to be egocentric now please. He referred back to what I said that I forgot to list him and said, " i also forgot to list u on the list of journos who do not call for interviews." The beef continues below...



I told him that he should have said that he prefers to be called right away, and he didn't waste anytime and shoved that right back at my face, "As a pro u shud have made that effort (sic)." I then jostled back at him rather with annoyance, "I prefer emails because nawe u get a chance to read and understand the questions, unlike telephone artists end up saying, "that's not what I said." Especially if we far from each other..." Nor that I want to be sarcastic or whatever but as much as he respects his field of expertise I also do so when it comes to my field.

Therefore I don't have to apologies for anything because I wanted him to have a paper trail of the interview so that we may avoid misunderstandings pertaining from mis-quotes. If I was located nearby him geographical wise, well, then I would have done the interview face to face as it allows more interaction and contact with your interview subject. I am honestly a humble person, but people like him will try harder to make sure that your name is dented in the industry which is a very unfair deed to anyone and any given career.


I did not want to blog about this, but it somehow undermined my cleverness as a young South African Journalist to be insulted by a person I grew up looking at in terms of their success and failures but yet they are still in the industry to show that with perseverance everything is possible. I have nothing against Somizi or whoever in the industry. Honestly, I was not much shocked by his attitude dating back from Dance Your Butt off, the way he treated contestants. I am just an entertainment writer/blogger who's out there to inform the public about their role models by observing-recollecting and reporting entertainment news as they shape Mzantsi...
