22 year old Thando
Hlope, an entrepreneur and NOC Technician from Nelspruit in Mpumalanga,
has been announced as the winner of Season 6 of Tropika’s Island of
Treasure after six episodes of non-stop action, drama
and just plain fun under the sun! Thando, a talented singer, actor and
model, has walked away from the island paradise of Mauritius a
millionaire and vowed from the start to turn his million into two
million!
“I am so grateful for
winning this season of Tropika Island of Treasure, this is going to be
life-changing for me,” says Thando. “My experience and journey on this
show has taught me so much about myself, and
has brought all of the contestants together. I would have been happy
for any one of us to win!”
Thando started his
journey with Tropika by getting into the top 3 in September’s audition
rounds, but lost out to the first winning contestant Diamond. Deciding
not to give up on his dream, he went on to enter
the competition again and his star qualities won him a spot on the show
at last. Having won the second spot on TIOT 6, Thando went on to
experience Da Smoooth Life with an all-expenses paid weekend in Cape
Town where he got a taste of the high life. He met
Pearl Thusi and even got some celebrity mentorship from Slikour of
Skwatta Camp fame.
“My main objective going
into the competition was to win the Milli and here I am! I can honestly
say that I had fun doing it – I was able to come out on top and win the
challenge that counted the most,” concludes
an elated Thando.
“It has been another
amazing season of Tropika Island of Treasure! Season 5 took us on a
rollercoaster ride of emotions but Season 6, with its exciting new
format, really mixed things up for the better! While
the celebrity format is always a winner when it comes to television, we
recognized the power the ‘regular’ contestant yields with viewers and
saw an opportunity to extend the experience to those who would otherwise
not be afforded the opportunity.
We knew
the show would be even more exciting this time around, and to see
Mzansi’s newest face being made on the show is an elating feeling,” says

was a great contestant and really kept us all thoroughly
entertained throughout this season. He is a deserving winner of the R 1
