Clash of the Choirs South Africa - Mzansi Magic’s singing reality show opens its doors for auditions
Singing hopefuls get ready for what promises to be an epic audition for Mzansi Magic’s returning reality show, Clash of the Choirs South Africa.
As Johannesburg Clash of the Choirs auditions open this Saturday, 15 February 2014, Lebogang “Shugasmakx” Mothibe best known as the co-founder and star of iconic local hip-hop group, Skwatta Kamp amps up to pick his 20 members choir. Singing hopefuls must make their way to The Market Laboratory in Newtown to try out for a spot in his choir from 08:00 – 17:00.
At auditions, choirmasters will challenge contestants to perform different genres of music from Pop, RnB and Gospel to Kwaito – in a choral formation. Choirs can audition as a group, however all Choirmasters are looking to set up their own choir that will compete in the final run for the grand prize. This means if the Choirmaster hears a distinctive voice within the choir, he/she can pull certain members that will fill a spot in their 20 piece maestro masterpiece and represent their original choir in the second season of Clash of the Choirs South Africa.
Singers need to impress the Choirmaster with their golden voices. Singers are encouraged to choose a song that best represents their vocal abilities.
“I’m excited to be one of the Choirmasters and I look forward to this creative space and challenge. As a rapper amongst the singers, it’s going to be tough. Many will doubt, but the choir I’m going to ensemble will prove to everyone why we are part of this phenomenal show”, says Shugasmakx.
Contestants can make their way to the venue before 17:00 as space is limited. Remember to bring your ID along to prove that you're 18 years or older.
