IS MINISTER FIKILE MBALULA'S OFFICE FAILING?
The Sunday Sun reported on Sunday that Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs Captain, Itumeleng 'Itu' Khune, is finding himself in the middle of a storm over prize money!
Khune won the big prize two months ago at the South African Sports Awards in November last year, Khune has yet to receive the money and the BMW he won.
The soccer star walked away with the prestigious Sports Star of the year award at the SA Sports Awards in Sun City, in North West province. The paper reports that although he received the BMW'S keys on the live TV show, he's still waiting for the car.
While the rest of the nation was under the impression that Itu drove back in his brand new wheels, it seems it was all for a show.
Apparently Itu is frustrated because he's not getting any joy from the organizers or Minister Fikile Mbalula's office.
Another source of the paper said Khune does not really care about the money.
In DEFENDING THE MINISTER'S OFFICE, his spokesperson, Paena Galane, was quoted as saying, "This is ridiculous, because there was never any time frame for the payments of the winners and recipients of prizes.
"Anyone expecting his/her prize has been dully informed. The delays are because of the fact that the department also relies on other stakeholders to process their contribution towards the project."
