This year, being its 27th year, The Amashova Durban Classic, welcomed over 10 000 jubilant riders to the finish after having cycled one of the safest cycle road races in the country.

Top favourite and winner of the 2011 Amashova, Johannesburg-based Nolan Hoffman from Team Abantu, proved unbeatable this year in the Men’s Elite category with a time of 2:18:59.

He now boasts three major East Coast victories, with the Amashova Durban Classic being his latest conquest. In total, Hoffman has won 15 national classics on the SA circuit to date.

First up in the ladies elite category was 26 year old An-li Kachelhoffer of team Best Med ASG, who after having competed in the Amashova four consecutive years finally took first place with a time of 2:56:00.

After the race she expressed her delight, “the race was good! We rode a little differently this year and I felt quite confident to move to the front of the pack and go for the win.”
