eNCA, South Africa’s first independent 24-hour
television news service, will launch a comprehensive online news offering on
Wednesday, 10 April. The website and will be available in desktop web, tablet
and mobile versions at www.enca.com.
The website will provide a broad range of local,
African and international news in various formats, with extensive video
content. Online users will be treated to the same quality and unflinching news
values that they have come to expect from the eNCA brand. Other site sections
include weather, sports, business and lifestyle, each featuring
up-to-the-minute news as well as more in-depth features and commentary from
eNCA’s world-class broadcast and online editorial team.
Viewers will be able to catch up on any current
affairs programming they may have missed on TV via the site’s on-demand video
offering. They will also now be able to interact directly with TV news anchors,
journalists and other personalities via discussion forums and blogs. Weatherman
Derek van Dam, political commentator Justice Malala, news veteran Debora Patta
and anchor Eleni Giokas are just a few of the familiar eNCA personalities who
will maintain interactive blogs on the site.
On the launch of eNCA.com, Group Head of News
Patrick Conroy said; “We now have a complete news offering. We’re on television
streamed globally around the world, and now have a compelling online and mobile
offering. Previously, broadband constraints prevented us from delivering a
video-rich web experience, but South Africa is catching up quickly.”
Users will be able to access content via mobile
phones, iPads or tablet PC thus enjoying a multi-screen viewing experience and
getting their news on the go.
